An Update on the Rosentwins

I'm in my 23rd week! I seriously can't believe it! A couple weeks ago, after an ultrasound, the doctor noticed that Baby A has what is called Marginal Cord Insertion. Basically, it means that instead of his umbilical cord going straight into the middle of his placenta, it is a little off to the side. It could mean, as he gets bigger, that it may obstruct the nutrients from making it to his growing little body. Since the doctor was a little worried about it, she sent me to a perinatologist to take a look at it. I was really anxious because she thought I would need to go to the hospital for fetal diagnostics twice a week for the rest of my pregnancy to monitor his growth and if his levels started to drop off they may have to deliver the babies early. Cue Hilarry having a major freak out. Of course I started googling all kinds of stories of babies being delivered extremely premature...when will I learn?! I need to stay the heck off of google!

We had to wait two weeks to go to the perinatologist and in the mean time, our sweet families fasted and prayed for us. Wouldn't you know, I went to my appointment this week and after a two-hour ultrasound (really!) the conclusion was that Baby A definitely has a marginal cord insertion but it's not very bad. It doesn't seem to be affecting his growth at all so far and he is still measuring about a week ahead! So no fetal diagnostics for me yet but I still have to go to the perinatologist every two weeks. Small price to pay! I am so relieved. My little coconut is happy and healthy! See, prayer works! The doctor said I should be able to carry them to 38 weeks :)

The ultrasound was very entertaining for a couple of reasons. The first being, Preston is out of town for the week on a work trip and since my bff, Jaimi, came to keep me company for the week, she came with me to my appointment. Let me preface this by saying, there all kinds of strange cases at the high risk OB, so I felt the need to clarify to every single person that we came into contact with that I was not Jaimi's surrogate, we are not dating, and yes, these babies came from my eggs. Truly, I greeted everyone by saying, "My husband is out of town on a work trip so my best friend came with me." Still, it was awkward/hilarious.

It was also entertaining because I think these babes are getting pretty used to ultrasound after ultrasound and I swear, they are becoming little performers. I know I am a broken record, but let the record show that yet another ultrasound tech who has never seen our babies before called Baby B "the most active baby she has ever seen." What is with this kid?! He's such a show off ;)

Not to be outdone, Baby A was pretty active himself. In fact, as you can see in the picture below, reminded me that he was the reason for the ultrasound by saying, "I'm number one!"

Baby B is gearing up for his beach baby lifestyle. Hang Ten, baby!

I feel the babies all the time now and sometimes those little boys really get me! I had my laptop resting on my belly last night and they were moving it out of their way with ninja kicks. They're so fun. I can't even believe how obsessed with them I am.
