Ms. B is back!

Today was my first official day of school. Just to be clear, I HATE the first day of school! I decided it's my least favorite day of the entire year. It's so nerve-racking! The kids are so uncomfortable and there is this totally awkward silence and all the kids stare at you! Really uncomfortable! Contrary to popular belief, I actually hate being the center of attention. (Interesting career choice, I know.)

I am so relieved today is over! I get so freaked out before the first day. I couldn't sleep last night for the life of me and was at the school, making copies at 5:45 this morning! I want to fast-forward to the part in the year when I know the kids well and they know me. I think my class this year will be...interesting, to say the least! They remind me a lot of my first class that I kept for 2 years, who were COMPLETE hooligans, but I loved them like my own and cried like a baby when they moved on to junior high. Actually, this year I have a ton of really sweet girls and most of the boys are pretty good. There are a few boys who are definitely going to give me a run for my money though. You know it's bad when you have to talk to a kid more than once on the first day of school! That's usually the honeymoon period!

I'm trying desperately to remember what my impression of my class was last year on the first day of school. Last year's group was such an amazing group of kids. They were really known all over campus as the best class in the school (and definitely not because of anything I did!) Every one of them came to see me this morning and give me a hug. Some of them even sent me emails over the summer to tell me they love me! I'm so glad they're all right next door so I get to see them every day. They're probably thinking they'll never be able to get rid of me!

Oh, the funniest part of today, was that when I was introducing myself to the kids, they were filling me in on all the parts of myself I was leaving out! They had heard I am obsessed with American Idol (true,) I am friends with a ton of celebrities (don't I wish!) and that you can find me every Saturday at Chandler mall (apparently I'm like a Loch Ness monster sighting!)

Oh, and in case you were wondering, there are 61 days left until October break!
