Possible identity crisis

Try as I may, I am not domestic, but by golly I sewed four, COUNT EM FOUR, pillows last week. You may pick your jaws up off the floor now. Trust me, I am as shocked as you are. Who am I and where has Hilarry gone?

Mama Blankenship worked her magic and put me through sewing boot camp during her visit last week. It went much smoother than the last time when I was 19 and tried to sew some pink and purple zebra pajama pants. That particular episode ended in tears and some not so ladylike language. I am happy to report we were much more successful this time around. My mom has the patience of Job. She's the best.

Our real objective was to make two 20-inch pillows out of this Moda fabric that I have been in love with since my sister-in-law, Shannon, made a pillow out of it. I know, I'm such a copycat. I stalked this fabric as soon as I laid eyes on hers and have been hoarding it for months, just waiting for my mom to arrive and teach me to sew! (BTW, if you haven't seen Shannon's blog, do yourself a favor and head over there. Her house is TO DIE FOR. Seriously, I want to move right in. She is so talented. Click on the categories tab and select House. You won't regret it.)

On one of our many trips to Joann's last week, I spotted this crazy Chevron fabric on clearance and since it was about $1 a yard, I grabbed some. Even I was a little on the fence about this fabric (it's a little out there, even for me) but I decided to make a pillow out of it and I love it!

And just to prove that I really truly sewed something. Witness the scene of the crime...

I obviously did not make the yellow rosette pillows on the left. I wish!! They have also been the object of much hoarding. I bought them months ago and have had them in the closet, just waiting to make their debut!

We've been doing lots of furniture painting/refinishing and we finally finished our table and chairs. As soon as I get some good pictures of our new to us table and chairs, I'll post them. That desk in the picture is up next!

Wow Hilarry! You domestic goddess, you! Next you'll be churning your own butter and baking your own homemade bread!
The pillows are GORGEOUS! You should start a business!

Ok, those look amazing! You have become such a thrifter... I love it! I love that desk your sewing machine is on. I can't wait to see the big reveal. I want to come see it in person. Can I invite myself???
