Yesterday, Jaimi, Melissa, Joe, Sarah, and I hiked South Mountain in the Climb for Cancer and boy, was it an experience!
The hike to the top of South Mountain is about 6 miles and since we skipped Catz yesterday to go, we decided we better make the most of those 6 milesJaimi and I attempted to RUN up South Mountain. What were we thinking?! We were slightly deterred by the buses coming down the mountain and, oh yeah, the fact that it was all uphill, but we did a pretty decent job!
Once you get to the top, your prize is this sweet sticker!

The way this hike is supposed to work, is you hike to the top and take a bus back down. Only, after we spent 30 minutes in line, whining and moaning about broken hip flexors and shin splints, the freakin buses broke down and we were told to start walking back down! We wanted to kill someone. I really thought my legs were coming detached from my hips and I had had MAJOR food rage. It's funny how we thought we were so tough after 7 weeks of Catz but, in reality, we're still big, fat wimps.
We tried to get a bus to pick us up, but even after I laid down in the middle of the road and tried to look injured, they blew by us! We laughed/cried for a few more miles until Melissa and Joe's friend, Dr. Dave, rescued us and took us to our cars!
So all in all, we hiked about 10 miles and my legs will never forgive me. I really can't believe how sore I am after completing 7 weeks of Catz! I decided after walking 10 miles, I deserved a Burning Bridge from Gandolfo's. Way to offset the calories burned, huh?
