I can't even believe it but after sitting on the waiting list for 2 years, we finally got picked to attend an American Idol taping! Every year, for the last 3 years, either my or Jaimi's name has been picked but it ALWAYS happens over Spring Break and one or both of us is out of town. Last year, I spent 2+ hours on the phone with the airline trying to change my flight back without spending some exorbitant amount of money but it was totally hopeless! I was fully prepared for the ominous email to come again this year announcing we had been selected to attend a taping while I am in Atlanta (because that's how it always goes) and, without fail, it happened again! Only this time, it's for this coming Wednesday and I get back in town Tuesday night! Happy Day!
So it looks like we will be driving to L.A. early Wednesday morning ( try 4 a.m.) to attend Wednesday night's results show! I am not kidding, I might pee my pants. From what I understand, they issue a couple hundred vouchers for each night's taping and it is first come, first serve. I am PRAYING we get there early enough to secure a place in the audience! With the new set, it's standing room only and I believe we'll be in the pit between the judges and the stage. The voucher says to wear something nice like you would wear to dinner (??) but no white, and no logos! I think I have my outfit all picked out but a trip to Nordstrom tomorrow is in the works to be sure. The weird thing is they suggest NOT wearing heels because they "shoot camera angles from the floor?" What does that mean? And how can I function if I'm not in heels? Do you think they'll kick me out if I wear heels?
Look for us on Wednesday night! I think it will be Jaimi, Karli, Scott, and ME!! I'm going to wear something really bright so you can't miss me! I feel like my head is going to explode, I am so excited! I can't wait to see my boyfriend, David Cook! If we don't make it in, don't be surprised if you never hear from me again. I will have thrown myself off a cliff.

you are so dang lucky!!! I would say I would watch for you but I will be in Italy:) I can't believe you like the bald guy with the comb over:) his voice is good but he thinks he is too cool. he is cuter than Elliot though, I have to give you that!
Melissa Melessa! Comb-forwards are the new black! I think David Cook is so yummy when he sings because he tilts his head back. It reminds me of Jesse in Power Pump with his calf bounce!I am still on the fence on who I love more...David or Michael Johns?
So jealous you're going to be in Italy! Think of me when you're eating gelato!
SO fun! I better see you and if your LA luck is with you, you will be asked to jump onstage with David Cook to perform a duet...heels and all!!! Call me after and tell me all about! You should email JJ&R about your experience too and see if they want to hear from you on the show!!!
Hi! You don't know me but my name is Mikelle and I found your blog by googling "Attending a taping of American Idol" because I'm going to American Idol on Wednesday too! I am SO excited and I was looking for some tips online... Like how early to get there, how long the taping will last, what to wear (did you get that email about the dress code? Avoid wearing jeans? That's crazy! What are you supposed to wear then? Khakis?), etc... So, how early are you going and what are you wearing? Do you know how long the taping will last? I agree with you about David Cook AND Michael Johns - I can't decide who I like better! Anyway, sorry for the rambling - can you tell I'm excited?!
P.S. You mentioned BYU in a previous post. Are you LDS too?
I'm glad I found your blog too! That's awesome that you are LDS. What are the chances of finding someone who is going to AI the same night as me and LDS, using google? Pretty cool.
I'll definitely look for you tomorrow! I'm so excited! So I just wanted to give you a heads up - one of my husband's co-workers said that when his kids went to an Idol taping they got there at noon, waited in line, and still didn't get in. We're going to be in line ALL day - it's going to be SO boring! And you can't really bring anything with you because you can't take anything into the studio. So frustrating! I think we're going to work on our signs while we're waiting in line...
