I think I just realized the boys aren't baby-babies anymore. This growing up thing is crazy. It feels like we're on a runaway train that can't be stopped. It's so fun to see the boys get to each new stage. We are so amused at the simplest things like when they started eating puffs (oh, their faces were so comical the first time they tasted one,) and watching them figure out how to scoot. Today, at church, Dex was standing against the back of the pew, laughing at people behind us, and I just cracked up. Davis also found a friend behind us, only his was an older man who bears a strong resemblance to my dad. He was crane his neck and twist his whole body to look at this man and then the man would wave at him, Davis would smile and then get shy and turn around. Then it started all over again. Seriously, he probably did this 25 times. It was so fun/surreal to see them start doing things I've watched babies do for years!
At seven months, Davis is way, way into his mama. He loves everyone (still!) but he has a thing for mommy. I've gotta be honest. That's a pretty good feeling! He has a smile that could melt anyones heart. He's just such a charmer. His eyes might be the prettiest I've ever seen on a human and when he smiles, they light up and his chubby little cheeks make them crinkle. To die for. He loves to cuddle and his favorite thing is to be thrown up in the air. When I pick him up, he wraps his arm around my shoulder and holds on to my sleeve. It's all I can do from squeezing the heck out of him. He's just so, so, so lovable. He is an awesome sitter and he loves to play with toys. He loves to eat his fruits and veggies and he's recently discovered turkey and chicken. It was true love immediately. When I feed both of the boys at the same time, I sit them in their high chairs side by side and they take turns taking a bite. This works really well until I'm feeding them something Davis really loves (sweet potatoes, bananas, or turkey,) and then all heck breaks loose. Davis will cry real crocodile tears when it's Dex's turn to have a bite. It's so hilarious...but a little stressful for mama! Davis HATES tummy time. It's truly a primitive form of torture for him. The only time he somewhat tolerates it (for a few minutes anyway,) is in the backyard, facing his brother. Davis has recently decided Dexter is the absolute funniest human being who will ever walk the earth. Davis pretty much thinks everything is funny (even me!) but Dex is on another level to him. He throws his head back and belly laughs at Dex, which just eggs Dex on! I love seeing them start to become buddies. At their most recent doctor appointment on the 16th, Davis weighed 21 pounds, 12 ounces. Everywhere I go, people can't believe either of the boys are 7 months old. Literally, every single day, I hear how huge they are. They are big boys! But the doctor assures us they're not fat...just tall, broad boys ;)
Dexter, at seven months, is such a character. This kid has more personality in his pinky than anyone I've ever met. He is our little comedian. He still blows zerberts all the time and he's started to realize he's funny. When we laugh at something he's doing, it just encourages him to do it more and more. Like I said, Davis thinks Dex is hilarious and Dex totally knows it. I swear he tries to get Davis's attention and will do something over and over when it makes Davis laugh. He loves strangers and makes friends everywhere we go. Dex is such an active little guy. When he is really tired, he gets super hyper. Go figure! We were at a pizza place the other night and it was nearing bedtime so the boys were getting tired. While Davis relaxed in my lap, Dex threw straw wrappers on the floor, squealed/screamed, jumped up and down on Preston's lap, and generally made a ruckus. We were almost crying we were laughing so hard! (We were also regretting order a stuffed pizza that took 40 minutes to make!) Dex has to have something in his hands all the time and he's always squirming out of our laps trying to go somewhere. He wants to be on the move so bad! Dex had mangos for the first time the other day and he was so fired up about them he was slamming his hands down on his tray and jumping off his seat. Needless to say, I was cleaning mangos off his nose AND eyebrows. Dexter is IN LOVE with Preston. It's the cutest thing. He absolutely lights up when Preston gets home from work. I work my tail off all day to make him laugh (I'm talking singing, dancing, the works) and he just gives me the bored teenager look. Preston walks in the door and he's all smiles and giggles! I love that he loves his daddy so much. As spicy as Dex is, he has the sweetest little personality and his laugh just melts me. His face is SO dang cute and when he gives me his closed mouth, straight line smile, I just want to jump up and smother his cheeks with kissed. Dex has me wrapped around his chubby little finger. At their most recent appointment, Dex weighed 20 pounds, 8 ounces. Quarterback?
There are absolutely no words for how much I love my boys. They have completely changed my life. I love that they have each other and I'm so excited to see the special relationship they're starting to develop. Sometimes, it's pretty challenging having twins and we imagine what it would be like if they had come to us one at a time instead of this perfect little pair, and ya know what? It seems sad. They were mean to come together! Best little friends!
