6 months!

I'm so bummed the boys aren't smiling in the picture because it's the least accurate representation of what they have been like at six months. They are truly the happiest, most delicious little babies on earth.  But the poor things battled RSV, ear infections, cellulitis, a trip to the ER, and colds this month (yes, seriously!!) and on the day I took this picture, they were really feeling stinky. They were such champs through week after week of sickness (and even when their mom wouldn't leave the camera alone!)

Davis is still my smiley, happy, eager to please little guy. Will that ever change? I doubt it. He loves to be kissed on the cheeks and belly laughs before you even get him! He gets totally slap happy (like someone else I know) when he's tired and will go from laughing to crying back to laughing again. He loves (and I do mean LOVES) food and goes crazy for turkey and rice. If you're eating something, he wants it. He had a Cafe Rio black bean one day and I thought he was going to have a heart attack! He still loves kids and when cousin Weston came to visit a couple weeks ago, I think Davis met his idol. He thought Weston was the funniest person in the world. He loves new people. If we are holding him and someone he doesn't know is talking to us, he thinks they're talking to him and will smile and coo at them. He's gotten a lot more vocal this month and he makes the cutest noises that sound like he's singing all the time. Speaking of singing, he loves a song we sing to him called the Davis song. In the mornings, when I'm fixing their breakfast, I'll sing and dance for the boys in their highchairs and I can always get a (courtesy) laugh out of Davis. When Davis is happy or when he has decided he likes someone, he still sticks his tongue out but now he sticks it out really far. He's like a little snake! It's so dang cute. He thinks it's so funny when you do it back to him too! Davis grabs things really well now and he's sitting up like a pro! It seems like all of a sudden he went from needing a Boppy behind him to being able to do it all by himself. It's so fun but it's so grown up at the same time. Sad! Davis loves his jumperoo and when he knows you're watching he'll jump as fast as he can. If you cheer for him while he does it, he'll never stop! He loves to sit up in his bath tub now and you can forget him laying down and relaxing in there. As soon as he gets in, he's grabbing for his toys. His favorite toys are ones that spin and his giraffe, Sophie. I swear, Davis just has the best heart and I can tell already that he's going to be such a good person. Sometimes we wonder where the heck he got his sweetness from because I don't know of anyone as sweet as him. I absolutely can't get enough of my Daveycakes.

Dex is the busiest baby I have ever seen! Seriously, he is always doing something. He amazes us because he's so quick. He seems to pick things up really easily and he's always trying to figure something out. He is not usually one to be content to sit on your lap. He wants to grab anything within reach of him (or out of reach!) and see what it does. If you have anything in your hand, it will be in his hand in a split second! He is the most independent, head strong little guy! He wants to feed himself and tries his hardest to take the spoon from me! When he does let me feed him, he lunges at the spoon and crashes head first into it and food goes flying. I learned the hard way that if I set his food on his tray, he'll grab it before you even know he's going for it and throw it on the ground. The only times he really ever gets fussy is when he is trying to do something and he isn't able to do it. It's like he knows what he wants to make happen but his little fingers and body aren't ready yet and he loses all patience! Dex is so, so funny! He's a people pleaser too. He has discovered some new tricks that we think are funny so he does them over and over again. For example, he has learned to blow zerberts and he even does them on command. He's a performer! Dexter seems like he's almost always in a good mood. He laughs all the time and you can make him smile just by smiling at him. He loves  to jump in his jumperoo too and we like to put him and Davis in their jumpers facing each other and we swear they have jump-offs! We call it, "So you think you can jump!" Dex is really, really, really into my phone. If he sees it, he will move mountains to get to it. He'll squeal until I let him have it! He just puts it in his mouth but for some reason he thinks it's cool. In fact, I had to laugh the other day when he was sitting in his car seat with my phone in his hand. Dex is obsessed with toys. He is sitting up really well too and his favorite thing to do is sit in his highchair with all of his toys. He and Davis take them off each other's trays! When he gets in the bathtub, the first thing he does is gather all his toys. He tries to hold them all at one time and it's so funny to watch him drop one as he goes for another one and then try to get the lost one back. Dex has so many facial expressions and you can watch him go through his whole repertoire just during dinner. Dex really is a sweet, sweet, sweet little boy. I am pretty much obsessed with him. He loves to kiss on the lips and he has totally decided he loves his mama lately.

It's soooo great how detailed you are. You'll be so happy you have so many little things written down and you'll relive this moment. Miss my D & D!
